Piotr Salajczyk - pianist, chamber musician, pedagogue. Winner of the Fryderyk phonographic award and the Orpheus award, granted "for outstanding performance creations of Polish music." He was nominated for Polityka's Passports "for the sensitivity and intelligence with which he approaches repertoire forgotten on our stages," and his interests include both recent music and the unknown music of Polish Romanticism.


In 2017, a four-disc album was released, on which he recorded the complete piano works of Juliusz Zarębski. A year later, the pianist undertook the recording of all works by Wladyslaw Zeleński for piano (including the Piano Concerto accompanied by the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra).


The artist has had numerous premieres of contemporary music, and has collaborated with the Apollon Musagete Quartet, Royal String Quartet, Hashtag Ensemble, Piotr Pławner, Joanna Freszel, Agata Zubel and the Silesian Quartet, among others. With the latter ensemble he recorded Mieczyslaw Wajnberg's Piano Quintet (Fryderyk 2018), which marked the beginning of his fascination with this composer. He is the co-founder of the Wajnberg Trio chamber group. His album of Wajnberg's piano sonatas, published by Polish Radio, was also released in early 2022.

He places the person and works of Karol Szymanowski at the center of his interests, and in 2022 took over as president of the board of the K. Szymanowski Music Society in Zakopane. The pianist leads a rich concert life (performances with the National Philharmonic, NOSPR, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonia Iuventus, AUKSO, Sinfonietta Cracovia, festivals at home and abroad: Warsaw Autumn, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Musica Polonica Nova, Budapest Spring, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Musique et Neige, Silesian Quartet and its guests, NOSPR First Performances Festival, Usedomer Musikfestival, Lubomirski Festival, Cartagena Music Festival). In 2022, he became the artist-in-residence at the Polish Piano Festival in Slupsk. His extensive discography includes albums recorded for the DUX, CD Accord, Haenssler, CPO, Chandos and Naxos labels, which have repeatedly won awards at home and abroad (Maestro Pianiste, Pizzicato Supersonic, 5 de Diapason, La Clef Res Musica five Fryderyk nominations, Opera Nederland record of the month, , nomination for the 2020 International Classical Music Awards). He has also recorded for Polish Radio Program 2, the Belgian radio station Musiq3, Deutschlandradio or HR2. For the Polish Music Publishers, he made a recording of Władysław Szpilman's Concertino with the AUKSO orchestra as part of PWM's "100 for 100" project.

The pianist also participates in many film and theater projects. He recorded with the NOSPR fragments of Andrzej Panufnik's Piano Concerto for the soundtrack of A. Wajda's latest film Powidoki. Wajda's Powidoki, and performed with Krzysztof Globisz on stage in the play "Poetry and Music of the Revolutionary Times." In 2019, at the invitation of Zbigniew Preisner, he took part in the
Preisner!s Music, a gala on the occasion of the composer's anniversary. Piotr Salajczyk teaches a piano class at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, from which he graduated in the class of Professor Józef Stompel. He supplemented his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg under Prof. Pavel Gililov. He was also a pianist at the Sommerakademie Salzburg. At the beginning of 2023, the Polish Music Publishing House published the first volume of Juliusz Zarębski's piano works, edited by him. In the current season, the artist will visit Wigmore Hall, the Grand Theater - National Opera, inaugurate the 2023/24 season of the National Forum of Music, and premiere piano concertos by Alexander Novak and Andrzej Karalov. This year also sees the release of two recordings by the pianist: his fifth and final album of piano works by Juliusz Zarębski, and works for piano and orchestra by Bolesław Szabelski, recorded with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
