All roads lead to … the organ! / Organ open day - NOSPR
All roads lead to … the organ! / Organ open day
Free entry.
The NOSPR organ open day is a unique opportunity for taking a look into places unavailable on a daily basis and discover the mysteries of the king of musical instruments. Throughout the day, you will have a chance to learn how the organ works and follow the way which the sound travels from the key of the manual, through the pipe, to your ear.
We have prepared a programme packed with attractions for you to enjoy! During the three multimedia-enhanced organ presentations (12:00, 14:30 and 17:00), Arkadiusz Bialic, will use cameras inside the organ casing so that you can really see everything there is to be seen about the instrument. For those thirsty for musical experiences, we recommend the organ maraton at 19:30 – a special journey across various sounds and musical styles.
Prof. Julian Gembalski will be your guide at the exhibition of small organ models, explaining the working of the tracker action, i.e. the complicated mechanism which transmits the sound from the key to the pipe. This is a perfect opportunity to see the inside of the organ, explore the technical aspects of its work and learn about various models of tracker action. Prof. Gembalski will share his memories and tell you about the complex process of installation and the history of this impressive instrument.
In the NOSPR foyer, you will also be able to enjoy presentations and mini recitals on the positive organ, a smaller, but equally fascinating instrument. On the screens in the foyer, we will present a short documentary showing the process of building the NOSPR organ.
