The Wonderkid of Organ
The Wonderkid of Organ. At the age of only 17, he recorded his debut album with original orchestral transcriptions in the Magdeburg Cathedral. The press hailed it as "absolutely authentic, technically perfect, and fiery." He caught the attention of the entire music world and today arranges for luminaries like Olivier Latry and the Berlin Philharmonic.
He studied church music at the Leipzig Conservatory under Prof. Martin Schmeding, winning major organ competitions along the way – including the International Organ Competition in Northern Ireland and the Pierre S. du Pont First Prize at the Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition. He was the youngest participant in the entire history of the competition.
As a representative of Leipzig's centuries-old musical tradition, Heindl will begin his program with Bach. The virtuosic Toccata in F Major opens the panorama of organ music – from Mozart to Robert and Clara Schumann. "Le Ballet des revenants" and the charming "Caprice à la bolero" from Clara Wieck-Schumann's "4 Pièces caractéristiques" will be performed at NOSPR for the first time in Heindl's own arrangement. Contemporary music also holds a significant place in Heindl's repertoire, hence the idea of commissioning a new composition from Moritz Eggert. Heindl himself is also a composer, as evidenced by his "Hypnotic Beats" Organ Etude. And as an arranger, the impressive finale will feature Camille Saint- Säens' "Danse macabre" – a dance piece that is both grotesque and stunningly virtuosic.
